A table ordering app that lifted average orders by 18%

Forkline's 40 restaurants took orders on paper pads. We built a Flutter app with QR table ordering, kitchen routing, and a loyalty program, processing 120K orders in its first quarter.

01 · The challenge

Forkline's restaurants were busy but slow: guests waved for waiters, orders were scribbled on pads, and the kitchen re-read handwriting all night. On packed evenings, tables sat waiting to order while staff ran past them.

The owners had tried a white-label ordering tool and dropped it in a month. Guests hated the clunky checkout, staff hated the tablet that did not match their kitchen flow, and the loyalty points never worked.

02 · The solution

We built a Flutter app around the guest's table: scan the QR, browse a menu with photos that reflect what the kitchen can actually make right now, order and pay without waiting for anyone.

Orders route straight to the right kitchen station, sold-out items disappear from menus in real time, and the loyalty program runs on the same rails, so points, offers, and reorders finally work in one place.

03 · How we did it

The approach

1

Sit through service

Two Friday nights in the busiest branch, timing every step from seat to first order to payment.

2

Menu as live data

The menu reads from kitchen inventory, so guests never order a dish the kitchen ran out of an hour ago.

3

Route to the station

Drinks to the bar, mains to the pass, desserts held until mains clear, with timing the kitchen controls.

4

Pilot, then scale

Three branches for two weeks with staff feedback baked in, then rollout to all forty with zero retraining days.

Guests order more when nobody is standing over them, it turns out. Average tickets are up eighteen percent and my kitchen finally stopped decoding handwriting.
